That is genuinely useful if you are reading an old internal note or an expired quote: the plan name still resolves to something real. It is also a trap, because it makes an old price look like it might still apply. Re-check the number, not the name.

It depends on whether you are paying for capacity or for control. If you send documents and want the bill to stop growing, a flat rate account is the cheaper shape. If you need bulk send, SSO or Salesforce, Dropbox Sign Standard is priced reasonably for what it includes and there is no point fighting it.

The row worth staring at is DocuSign Personal. At $132 a year it is more expensive than Dropbox Sign Essentials at $120.60, and it cannot physically send 100 documents in a year because it stops at 60. That is the whole argument for uncapped plans in one line.

Because $17.50 is a per user rate and the tier starts at two seats. Dropbox Sign prints "starting at $420 billed yearly" directly under the per user figure, and $17.50 times 12 times 2 is exactly $420. Nothing is hidden, but the number people remember is the small one.

The month-to-month view confirms the floor a second time without anyone having to take our word for it. Dropbox Sign prints "starting at $600 billed yearly" beside the $25 per user monthly rate, and $25 times twelve times two is exactly $600. Two different billing views, the same two seat multiplier underneath both.

This matters most to solo users who want one feature from Standard. If you are one person who needs bulk send, you cannot buy one Standard seat. You buy two, and your bill goes from $120.60 to $420, a 248% increase, for a feature you may use a handful of times a year. Working out what those bulk sends cost you individually is usually the faster way to settle it, and a flat rate account that carries bulk send without a seat minimum is the other way around it.

The saving is real but it is smaller than it looks, and the direction you read it from changes the number. Essentials is $10.05 a month yearly against $15 month to month. Read as a discount that is 33% off. Read as a surcharge, paying monthly costs 49% more. Both describe the same $59.40 a year.

The reason to state it both ways is that vendors always publish the smaller framing. A "33% saving" sounds like a modest bonus for committing; a "49% surcharge" sounds like a penalty for keeping your options open. If you are still deciding whether this is the right tool, $59.40 a year is a fair price to stay flexible. If you have already decided, paying monthly is just a donation.

On the published rates, yes, and by a wider margin than most comparisons show, because the two vendors sell different things at the same price point.

The cleanest way to see it: DocuSign Standard's discounted annual rate is $30 per user a month. Dropbox Sign Standard's undiscounted month-to-month rate is $25 per user a month. DocuSign's best price is higher than Dropbox Sign's worst price, and DocuSign caps that seat at 100 envelopes a year while Dropbox Sign does not cap it at all. What DocuSign still earns a premium for is real and worth naming: identity verification, FedRAMP authorization for public sector work, contract lifecycle management, over a thousand integrations, and the plain fact that enterprise counterparties recognize the name and will not query it. If you are selling into large organizations, that recognition has a value that does not show up in a cost per envelope table.

Practically, nothing about the signing itself. The product line continued; it changed name and owner-facing branding. Electronic signatures collected under either name rest on the same US law, the ESIGN Act of 2000 and the state-level UETA, and neither depends on which vendor logo was on the email.

The things that do change when any team switches vendors are worth planning for: stored documents live in the old account until you export them, templates do not transfer between vendors and have to be rebuilt, and any integration keyed to the old brand's endpoints needs re-pointing. None of that is difficult, but all of it takes an afternoon that nobody budgets for.
