SignNow is cheaper than HelloSign (now Dropbox Sign) when a team sends fewer than about 100 documents a year, because signNow charges one price for the whole account with unlimited users. Dropbox Sign is cheaper for a single heavy sender, because every Dropbox Sign plan includes unlimited signature requests. signNow Basic is $8 a month billed yearly ($96) for unlimited users and 100 signature invites a year. Dropbox Sign Essentials is $15 a month billed yearly ($180) for one user with no request limit, and Standard is $25 per user a month.

The two products price on opposite axes. signNow counts documents and ignores headcount. Dropbox Sign counts people and ignores documents. Which one is cheaper for you depends on which of those two numbers is bigger in your office, and for a team of 2 or 3 people sending a few documents a week, neither is the cheapest option. The prices below are read from each vendor's own pricing page.

HelloSign vs SignNow pricing side by side

signNow lists four plans from $8 to $30 a month on yearly billing, all with unlimited users; Dropbox Sign lists two priced plans at $15 and $25, priced per user. Monthly billing costs more on both: signNow Basic is $20 a month and Dropbox Sign Essentials is $20 a month.

Dropbox Sign's page also shows a promotional coupon price of $10.05 a month for Essentials and $17.50 per user for Standard. Treat that as a first-term discount, not the price you renew at. signNow backs its paid plans with a 30-day refund window for new customers, counted from the invoice.

How does the signNow invite limit work?

On yearly billing every signNow account gets up to 100 signature invites a year, shared by everyone on the account; on monthly billing it is 10 a month. Past that, signNow switches the account to pay-as-you-go and bills each additional invite, so sending never stops. The pricing page does not print that per-invite rate for Basic, Business or Advanced. Enterprise starts at $1.50 an invite.

Read signNow's definition of an invite closely, because it counts more than signed contracts. A declined document still counts as a completed invite. So does an invite you cancel before anyone signs. And if you share a reusable signing link without restricting forwarding, every person who signs through it counts as a separate invite. A document sent to several signers at once, or a group of documents sent together, counts as one.

Which is cheaper, SignNow or Dropbox Sign?

signNow is cheaper for a team that sends under 100 documents a year, and Dropbox Sign is cheaper for one person who sends a lot. The picture changes once you have both several senders and real volume, which is exactly the office that is shopping for a second tool.

Your officesignNowDropbox SignSignSend
1 person, 50 documents a year$96 (Basic)$180 (Essentials)$288 (Pro)
1 person, 400 documents a year$96 plus 300 extra invites$180 (Essentials)$288 (Pro)
3 people, 80 documents a year$96 (Basic)$900 (Standard)$288 (Pro)
3 people, 300 documents a year$96 plus 200 extra invites$900 (Standard)$288 (Pro)
5 people, bulk send, 600 documents a year$180 (Business) plus 500 extra invites$1,500 (Standard)$588 (Business)
Three people sending about 300 documents a year, cost per year
Dropbox Sign Standard, 3 users, billed yearly$900
signNow Basic, billed yearly, plus 200 extra invites at $1.50about $396
SignSend Pro, 3 people, billed yearly$288

List prices from each pricing page. signNow does not print its pay-as-you-go invite rate for Basic, so $1.50 (its Enterprise starting rate) is an assumption.

The signNow rows with extra invites cannot be totaled exactly from the public page. If extra invites cost the same $1.50 that signNow quotes as its Enterprise starting rate, 200 extra invites add $300 and 500 add $750. Ask signNow for the pay-as-you-go rate in writing before you commit to a year, because at your volume that number decides the bill more than the plan price does.

Features that change the comparison

On the entry plans the two tools are close: both send for signature, set a signing order, remind signers and keep an audit trail. The gaps show up one tier higher.

  • Templates. signNow includes unlimited templates on every plan. Dropbox Sign Essentials stops at 5 templates and Standard at 15.
  • Bulk send. signNow puts bulk send on Business ($180 a year). Dropbox Sign puts it on Standard, which means at least two users at $25 each.
  • Team features. signNow adds shared folders, shared templates and team reports from Business. Dropbox Sign Essentials has no admin console or team features at all, because it is a one user plan.
  • Branding and SMS. signNow keeps custom branding and SMS delivery for Advanced at $360 a year. Dropbox Sign includes branding on Standard.
  • Integrations. Dropbox Sign lists Google Drive, Microsoft Word and HubSpot on every plan and Salesforce from Standard. signNow keeps Salesforce, NetSuite and similar premium integrations for Enterprise.

Is SignNow better than Dropbox Sign for a small business?

signNow is the better buy for a small business that sends a few documents a month and wants everyone on one bill; Dropbox Sign is the better buy for a solo professional who sends every day and lives in Google Drive or Dropbox. Neither fits the office in the middle well: two to ten people who between them send several hundred documents a year. There, signNow turns into a per-invite bill and Dropbox Sign into a per-user bill.

That middle is the case SignSend is priced for. Pro is $288 a year, or $49 a month, for up to 3 people with unlimited documents, reminders, signing order, templates and a shared document list. Business is $588 a year for up to 10 people and adds bulk send to 200 recipients and your company name on the signing page. Nothing is counted per invite and nothing is charged per seat inside those limits. If you send fewer than 100 documents a year, signNow Basic at $96 is the cheaper honest answer, and we would rather you buy that than overpay us.

Before you switch any of these tools, check what else your contracts need after signing. If the real job is tracking renewal dates and obligations across hundreds of agreements, that is contract management software that tracks renewal dates and obligations, a different purchase from an e-signature plan.

How to choose in five minutes

  1. Count last quarter's documents sent for signature and multiply by four.
  2. Count the people who send, not the people who sign.
  3. Under 100 documents a year with any number of senders: signNow Basic.
  4. One sender, well over 100 documents a year: Dropbox Sign Essentials.
  5. Two to ten senders and more than 100 documents a year: price SignSend Pro or Business against both, using the tables above.
