DocuSign Standard Plan: DocuSign Standard Plan Pricing, Envelope Limits and Cost per User

Standard is $30 per user per month on an annual commitment and $45 month to month, with 100 envelopes per user per year. Here is what it really costs for your head count, where the cap bites, and when a flat price account comes out cheaper.

Prices read from DocuSign's own eSignature plans page with both billing toggles. Send one document here free before you commit a year anywhere.

The cheapest DocuSign plan with unlimited envelopes: IAM Standard, 3 seats minimum

The DocuSign Standard plan costs $30 per user per month on an annual commitment ($360 per user per year) or $45 per user per month paid month to month, and it includes 100 envelopes per user per year on annual billing or 10 per user per month on monthly billing. Every person who sends needs a seat; signers are free. Past the allowance, DocuSign bills overage at $3.00 to $5.40 an envelope depending on how you pay.

So Standard is a good buy for one or two people who send fewer than 100 documents a year each and want DocuSign's templates and integrations. It gets expensive in two situations: when a third, fourth or fifth person needs to send, and when one person sends every day. SignSend Pro is $490 a year for one account login with unlimited documents, so it costs more than one light Standard seat and less than two.

How much is the DocuSign Standard plan?

DocuSign Standard is $30 per user per month on an annual commitment, or $360 per user per year, and $45 per user per month if you pay month to month. Those are the figures on DocuSign's own eSignature plans page with both billing toggles clicked, in US dollars, before tax. Standard is the plan DocuSign labels "Most popular", and it is the first tier that lets more than one person send from the same account.

Because the price is per user, the number you actually pay depends on how many people in your company press send. Signers never need a seat. Here is what Standard costs at the head counts small businesses usually have.

People who sendStandard, annual commitmentStandard, month to monthEnvelopes a year (annual / monthly)
1$360$540100 / 120
2$720$1,080200 / 240
3$1,080$1,620300 / 360
5$1,800$2,700500 / 600
10$3,600$5,4001,000 / 1,200

Two add-ons sit on top of any Standard seat if you switch them on: SMS delivery starts at $0.36 per delivery and recipient ID verification at $2.40 per attempt. Standard includes 5 of each as a one-time bonus, not a monthly allowance. For the full ladder from Personal to Enhanced, see our DocuSign pricing breakdown.

How many envelopes does the DocuSign Standard plan include?

The annual Standard plan includes a total of 100 envelopes per user per year. The month to month plan includes 10 envelopes per user per month, which is 120 a year. So the cheaper way to pay is also the one that gives you less to send. Paying annually saves $180 per seat and costs you 20 envelopes a year.

An envelope is DocuSign's billing unit: one send, which can carry several documents and go to several signers. It counts the moment it goes out, whether or not anyone signs it, and voiding it afterwards does not give the envelope back. Bulk sends and PowerForms count one envelope per recipient, although neither is on Standard anyway.

Spread over the year, 100 envelopes is fewer than two sends a week. That is plenty for a consultant sending a proposal and a contract to each new client. It is tight for anyone whose documents go out daily: a property manager with lease renewals, an agency with statements of work and change orders, a clinic with intake consent forms. Our DocuSign limits page covers the other ceilings, file size included.

Is DocuSign Standard unlimited?

No. DocuSign Standard is metered at 100 envelopes per user per year on the annual plan, and there is no unlimited version of it. The search suggestion "docusign standard unlimited" exists because older DocuSign plans were marketed that way, and some reseller pages still say so.

The only DocuSign plans that include unlimited envelopes today are two of its Intelligent Agreement Management tiers, and only for envelopes sent through the web app:

DocuSign planPrice, annual commitmentMinimum usersSmallest possible billEnvelopes
eSignature Standard$30/user/month1$360 a year100 per user per year
IAM Starter$45/user/month1$540 a year100 per user per year
IAM Standard$50/user/month3$1,800 a yearUnlimited via web app
IAM Professional$80/user/month3$2,880 a yearUnlimited via web app

Put simply, removing the envelope meter at DocuSign costs at least $1,800 a year, because of the three-seat minimum. That is the number to hold against any flat priced tool you are considering. SignSend Pro includes unlimited documents for $490 a year on one account login.

What happens when you go over the envelope limit on DocuSign Standard?

DocuSign keeps sending and bills you for the extra envelopes. Its support FAQ on overage charges, updated in June 2026, publishes a per envelope rate for Standard that depends on how you pay and whether you buy the extra envelopes in advance.

Standard billing cycleBought in advance (Subscribe and Save)Pay as you go
Annual$3.00 per envelope$3.60 per envelope
Month to month$4.50 per envelope$5.40 per envelope

The pay as you go rate on the annual plan is exactly what the included envelopes cost you anyway: $360 divided by 100 is $3.60. So overage is not a penalty, it is just more of the same metered price. Where it adds up is volume. A sender who needs 200 envelopes a year on one annual seat pays $360 plus 100 more at $3.60, which is $720. The full rate card, including Business Pro, is in our article on DocuSign cost per envelope.

One error trips people up here. "The envelope allowance for the account has been exceeded" is a separate account-level sending limit, not the overage meter, and DocuSign's own fix for it is a support case.

What is the difference between DocuSign Standard and Business Pro?

Business Pro costs $15 more per user per month on the annual plan ($45 against $30) and gives you exactly the same 100 envelopes per user per year. The extra $180 per seat buys features, not capacity. If you are upgrading because you ran out of envelopes, the upgrade will not help.

Business Pro earns its price if you collect a deposit at signing or send the same document to a list of people. For most other buyers Standard is the right DocuSign tier. We worked through the decision seat by seat in DocuSign Standard vs Business Pro, and the Business Pro plan page has the rest of its detail.

DocuSign Personal vs Standard: which one do you need?

Personal is $11 a month on an annual commitment ($132 a year) for one user and 5 envelopes a month. Standard is $30 per user per month ($360 a year) with 100 envelopes per user per year. The two caps work differently. Personal allows at most 60 envelopes a year, released 5 per month, and it stops there because Personal cannot buy overage. Standard gives each seat 100 a year to use whenever the work arrives, and bills overage past that.

Standard is the right move when any of these is true: a second person needs to send, you want your own logo on the signing experience, you need shared templates or comments on a draft, or you send more than 5 documents in a busy month. If none of them is, Personal is the cheaper DocuSign plan and the DocuSign Personal plan page explains its limits. Personal is $15 month to month; Standard is $45.

Is there a DocuSign Standard discount or promo code?

There is no Standard promo code. The only discounts DocuSign publishes are annual billing, a nonprofit rate, real estate plans with an extra NAR member tier, and free access for students and teachers. Coupon sites that list a Standard code are recycling expired affiliate offers, which we checked one by one on our DocuSign promo code page.

The annual discount on Standard is exactly a third: $45 to $30. The eSignature pricing page advertises "up to 33%", which Standard hits and Personal (26.7%) and Business Pro (30.8%) do not. A verified US nonprofit pays $17.50 per user per month for Standard on an annual plan, which is $210 a year; the eligibility rules are on our DocuSign nonprofit pricing page. Founders looking for a startup program will not find one, as our DocuSign for startups page explains.

When does a flat price account cost less than DocuSign Standard?

From the second person who sends, or from roughly 137 envelopes a year for a single sender. SignSend Pro is $490 a year billed yearly or $49 a month, for one account login with unlimited documents and unlimited signers. It does not change with head count or volume. DocuSign Standard changes with both.

Scenario (annual billing)DocuSign StandardSignSend ProCheaper
One sender, 80 documents a year$360$490DocuSign, by $130
One sender, 137 documents a year$493 ($360 plus 37 at $3.60)$490About even
One sender, 250 documents a year$900 ($360 plus 150 at $3.60)$490SignSend, by $410
Two senders, 150 documents a year between them$720$490SignSend, by $230
Three senders, 600 documents a year$1,080 plus 300 at $3.60 = $2,160$490SignSend, by $1,670

The honest caveat on the multi-sender rows: SignSend prices per account and the account has one login, so two people sending means sharing that login. If each sender needs a separate login and their own audit identity, Standard's per-seat model is doing something SignSend Pro does not. If your team already sends from a shared inbox or one operations person handles contracts, the flat price is the better deal. Our DocuSign alternative page covers the wider switch.

What DocuSign Standard does that SignSend does not

Standard is a mature product, and several of its features have no equivalent here. Weigh these before switching.

DocuSign Standard gives every sender a named seat, shared templates and a shared document library, comments on a draft before it goes out, scheduled sending, in-person signing, 44+ signing languages, and 1,000+ integrations including Google Drive, Microsoft 365, Slack, Zoom and Stripe. It accepts many file types and several documents in one envelope, and it offers SMS delivery and ID verification as paid add-ons. It also includes a developer account for its API.

SignSend takes one PDF up to 20MB per send. It has no API, no ID verification and no integrations catalog. What you get is the core job done at a fixed price: upload the PDF, add as many signers as the document needs, choose whether they sign all at once or one at a time in your order, set a deadline you can move later, and let automatic reminders chase anyone who has not signed. Every completed document carries a full audit trail (signer, timestamp, IP) and a certificate of completion, valid under the US ESIGN Act and state UETA laws.

How to cancel DocuSign Standard at the end of the term

An annual Standard plan is a twelve month commitment, so cancelling stops the renewal rather than ending the charges straight away. DocuSign's refund policy allows a refund request within 30 days of first signing up for an annual plan; after that, the prepaid year runs out. Month to month plans stop at the end of the current month.

If you plan to move, send your last documents on the old account, download the completed PDFs and certificates, and switch before the renewal date. The steps and the screens you will see are in our guide to cancelling a DocuSign subscription.

What the Standard plan decision really comes down to

Four numbers settle it for almost everyone who lands on this page.

How many people press send

Standard is priced per sender, not per company. One seat is $360 a year, three are $1,080 and five are $1,800 on the annual plan. People who only sign never need a seat, so count senders, not staff.

How many envelopes each sender uses

The annual plan gives 100 per user per year, fewer than two a week. Anyone above that pays $3.00 to $3.60 per extra envelope on the annual plan, so a 250 envelope year on one seat costs about $900.

Whether you can commit for twelve months

Annual billing is a third cheaper per seat but locks you in for the year, and DocuSign only takes refund requests in the first 30 days. Month to month is $45 a seat and gives 20 more envelopes a year.

Whether you need Business Pro features

Bulk send, payment collection, web forms and signer attachments are not on Standard. They start on Business Pro at $45 per user per month, which carries the same 100 envelope allowance.

How to work out your real DocuSign Standard bill

Four steps, about ten minutes, and you will know what the year costs before the checkout does.

01

Count senders

List everyone who will create and send documents in the next twelve months. That is your seat count. Multiply by $360 for annual or $540 for month to month.

02

Count last year's sends

Pull the number of contracts, agreements and forms each sender sent last year. Compare it with 100 per seat per year (annual) or 10 per seat per month (monthly).

03

Price the overage

Multiply the envelopes above the allowance by $3.60 on the annual plan (or $3.00 if you prebuy them). Add that to the seat cost. This is the number to budget, not the sticker price.

04

Hold it against a flat price

Compare the total with $490 a year for SignSend Pro or $990 for Business with bulk send. If the flat price wins and you can live without Standard's integrations, try one document free first.

Who DocuSign Standard fits, and who overpays on it

A two-partner firm with light volume

Two seats at $720 a year, 200 envelopes between them, shared templates for engagement letters. Standard is a reasonable fit, although a single flat account at $490 does the same sending for less if the partners can share one login.

An operations lead sending for the whole office

One person sends offer letters, vendor agreements and NDAs for everyone. That is one seat, but often 200 to 300 envelopes a year, which puts the real Standard bill at $720 to $1,080 once overage lands.

Property managers and leasing offices

Lease renewals, move-in forms and addenda arrive in waves. The 100 envelope annual cap is used up by spring, and every renewal after that is billed at $3.60. Unlimited documents at a fixed price is the natural fit.

Agencies and consultants with growing teams

Each new account manager who sends a statement of work adds a $360 seat. At five senders the Standard bill is $1,800 a year before any overage, against $490 for one SignSend account.

DocuSign Standard plan questions, answered

How much does DocuSign Standard cost per month?

DocuSign Standard costs $30 per user per month on an annual commitment, which DocuSign states as $360 per user for the year, or $45 per user per month if you pay month to month. Tax may be added on top. Two people who both send pay $720 a year on the annual plan, and three pay $1,080.

How many envelopes do you get with DocuSign Standard?

On the annual plan, DocuSign Standard includes a total of 100 envelopes per user per year. On the month to month plan it is 10 envelopes per user per month, which adds up to 120 a year. One envelope can hold several documents and several signers and still counts once, and it counts as soon as it is sent.

Is DocuSign Standard unlimited?

No. Standard is capped at 100 envelopes per user per year on annual billing. DocuSign only sells unlimited envelopes (sent through the web app) on its IAM Standard and IAM Professional plans. IAM Standard is $50 per user per month on an annual commitment with a 3-user minimum, so the smallest unlimited DocuSign plan costs $1,800 a year.

Can I pay for DocuSign Standard monthly?

Yes. Month to month, Standard is $45 per user per month and comes with 10 envelopes per user per month. It costs $180 more per seat over a year than the annual plan, but it gives you 20 more envelopes a year and no twelve month commitment.

Does DocuSign Standard include bulk send?

No. Bulk send, PowerForms, web forms, payment collection and signer attachments all start on Business Pro, which is $45 per user per month on an annual commitment. Standard adds shared templates, commenting, your own branding, delegated signing, scheduled sending and in-person signing over Personal.

How many users can you have on DocuSign Standard?

DocuSign's plan table lists Standard for up to 50 users. Each person who sends needs a paid seat. People who only sign documents do not need an account or a seat at all. Past 50 users, DocuSign moves you to an Enhanced plan through sales.

Is DocuSign Standard worth it for a small business?

It is worth it when you need shared templates, commenting and DocuSign's integration catalog, and when one or two people send fewer than 100 envelopes a year each. It stops being good value when several people send, because every sender is a $360 seat, or when one person sends more than about 137 envelopes a year and pays overage on the rest.

What is a cheaper alternative to DocuSign Standard?

For one light sender, nothing on the DocuSign side beats Personal at $132 a year if 5 envelopes a month is enough. For two or more senders, or for heavy volume, a flat priced account costs less: SignSend Pro is $490 a year for one account with unlimited documents, against $720 for two Standard seats. SignSend has fewer features, so check the comparison table first.
