DocuSign Business Account Cost and Which Plan a Company Account Needs

A DocuSign business account is a Standard or Business Pro subscription with more than one user, and it costs $360 or $540 per user a year on an annual commitment ($45 or $65 per user a month month to month). Personal at $132 a year is sold for individuals and sole proprietors and allows a single user, so the moment a second person at the company needs to send documents, you are buying a business plan priced per seat. Each Standard or Business Pro seat includes 100 sends a year on annual terms, and DocuSign bills overage past that.
The prices below come from DocuSign's eSignature pricing page, read on October 1, 2026, and its overage FAQ. If you are opening a company account this week, the cost table and the section on who needs a seat are the two that change the bill.
How much does a DocuSign business account cost?
A DocuSign business account costs the seat price times the number of people who send. Standard is $30 per user a month and Business Pro $45 per user a month on an annual commitment, both shown per month but billed as a year. Month to month the same seats are $45 and $65. The pricing page advertises saving up to 33 percent by paying annually.
| Users who send | Standard, annual | Business Pro, annual | Standard, month to month |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $360 a year | $540 a year | $540 a year |
| 2 | $720 | $1,080 | $1,080 |
| 3 | $1,080 | $1,620 | $1,620 |
| 5 | $1,800 | $2,700 | $2,700 |
| 10 | $3,600 | $5,400 | $5,400 |
Standard and Business Pro both allow up to 50 users. Past 50, DocuSign moves you to its Enhanced plans, which are quoted by sales. Taxes are added on top, and so are paid add-ons such as SMS delivery (from $0.36 per delivery) and ID verification (from $2.40 per attempt).
Can I use a personal DocuSign account for business?
Yes, if you are the only person who sends. DocuSign describes Personal as the plan for individuals and sole proprietors with basic needs: one user, 5 sends a month, $11 a month on an annual commitment or $15 month to month. A consultant, a freelancer or a one-person agency can run the business on it, and paying for it from a business bank account changes nothing about the plan.
Where it stops working is the second person. Personal has no way to add users, so a bookkeeper or office manager who also needs to send has to be on a Standard seat. A DocuSign employee answering this exact question on the community forum explained that once an account is under the company, you get your own login, Manage tab and reports, but also an admin and possibly several other users. That is the business account.
What is the difference between a DocuSign personal and business account?
The difference is users and features: Personal is one user with 5 sends a month, while Standard and Business Pro add up to 50 users, shared templates, user permissions and a pooled allowance of 100 sends per seat a year. Business Pro adds bulk send, PowerForms, web forms, payment collection and signer attachments on top of Standard.
| What you get | Personal | Standard | Business Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annual price per user | $132 | $360 | $540 |
| Users | 1 | Up to 50 | Up to 50 |
| Sends included | 5 a month | 100 per user a year | 100 per user a year |
| Overage on annual terms | Not offered, hard stop | $3.00 to $3.60 per send | $4.80 to $5.80 per send |
| Bulk send and payments | No | No | Yes |
The overage rates are from DocuSign's own overage FAQ: $3.00 with a pre-purchased block or $3.60 pay as you go on annual Standard, and $4.80 or $5.80 on annual Business Pro. Personal is excluded and simply stops at its monthly limit.
Who needs a seat on a DocuSign company account?
Only the people who send documents need a seat; everyone who signs is free. Customers, new hires, vendors and tenants sign from the email link without creating an account. That single fact is the biggest lever on a business account's cost, because many companies buy a seat for every manager when one or two people actually press send.
Walk through last quarter's paperwork and write down who sent each document. In a twelve-person company it is common to find that an office manager sent offer letters, a controller sent vendor agreements and nobody else sent anything. That is two seats, $720 a year on Standard, not twelve.
If the company account is mostly for HR, keep in mind the signature is only one part of onboarding. Paying for seats for every hiring manager to send forms is less useful than one person sending the packet while the policy and safety training runs in a corporate LMS that onboards and certifies new hires.
Can I merge a free DocuSign account into a business account?
No. DocuSign support staff confirmed on its community forum that accounts cannot be merged into a single account. If an employee has been sending from a free or Personal account, the admin creates a new user for them on the business account. Where the company has set up a DocuSign Organization and claimed its email domain, the organization admin can close the external account. Download any completed documents from the old account before it is closed, because they do not move across.
How to open a DocuSign business account without overpaying
- Count senders, not employees. Seats are per sender, so this number sets most of the bill.
- Count sends for a year. Multiply last quarter by four. At more than 100 per seat, price the overage or the next seat.
- Pick Standard unless you need a Business Pro feature. Bulk send, payment collection, web forms and signer attachments are the reasons to pay $180 more per seat a year.
- Pay annually if you are sure. Annual is about a third cheaper, but it is a year's commitment: seats added mid-term are prorated, and seats can only be removed in the window before renewal.
When one flat account is cheaper than a DocuSign business account
When one person or one shared desk sends for the company, a flat per-account plan costs less than a single DocuSign Standard seat. What DocuSign costs a small business comes down to seats times rate, and that math only works in your favor if each person truly needs a separate login.
SignSend Pro is $49 a month or $288 a year for one account with unlimited documents and unlimited signers. It is priced per account, and an account is one login, not a multi-user workspace with permissions. For a company where the office manager sends offer letters, NDAs and vendor contracts, that is $72 a year less than one DocuSign Standard plan seat at any volume, with no overage line. Every signed PDF carries an audit trail (signer, timestamp, IP) and a certificate of completion, and you can set a signing order and a deadline. Business, at $99 a month or $588 a year, adds bulk send to up to 200 recipients and your company name on the signing page and certificate.
The honest exceptions: a sole proprietor under 5 sends a month pays less on DocuSign Personal at $132 a year, and a team where five people each need their own login with integrations and shared templates is buying what DocuSign Standard is built for. For everyone in between, compare one year of seats plus overage against one flat account, and see the full plan list on our DocuSign pricing breakdown or the yearly totals in DocuSign annual cost.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a DocuSign business account per month?
A DocuSign business account is $30 per user a month on Standard and $45 on Business Pro when you commit to a year, or $45 and $65 per user month to month. A three-user Standard account is $90 a month on annual terms, billed as $1,080 for the year.
Is there a DocuSign business account free trial?
Yes. DocuSign's plans and limits support article describes the free trial as lasting about 14 days with no credit card needed, with a limited pool of sends. Because no card is on file, the trial does not roll into a paid business account on its own.
How many users can a DocuSign business account have?
Standard and Business Pro each allow up to 50 users on the self-serve plans. Above 50 users DocuSign sells its Enhanced plans through sales, with custom pricing and features such as single sign-on.
