DocuSign Add User Cost, DocuSign Multiple Users and Shared Account Pricing
Every person you add to DocuSign is a paid seat. Here is what one more user costs on each plan, how to add them, and what a whole team costs when the plan is priced per team instead.

Adding a user to DocuSign costs one seat: $30 a month on Standard or $45 on Business Pro with an annual commitment, which is $360 or $540 a year per person. DocuSign bills an added seat immediately, prorated for the rest of the term, and the account then renews with that seat every year. Personal allows only one user, so a second person means upgrading the account.
Below are DocuSign's seat rules from its own support pages, the real yearly total for 2 to 10 users, the exact steps to add someone, and the point where a plan priced per team costs less. Where adding DocuSign seats is the better buy, we say so.
How much does it cost to add a user to DocuSign?
Every user you add to DocuSign needs a seat, and a seat costs $360 a year on Standard or $540 a year on Business Pro with an annual commitment. Month to month the same seats are $45 and $65. DocuSign's own support page puts it plainly: a seat gives one user access to the account, and an account cannot have more users than seats.

The table below is DocuSign's eSignature list pricing, the plans a small business can buy online. Personal cannot take a second user at all, so adding a user on Personal really means upgrading the whole account to Standard.
| DocuSign plan | Seat price, annual commitment | Seat price, month to month | Most users | Envelopes per seat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Personal | $11 a month ($132 a year) | $15 a month | 1 | 5 a month |
| Standard | $30 a month ($360 a year) | $45 a month | Up to 50 | 100 a year (annual), 10 a month (monthly) |
| Business Pro | $45 a month ($540 a year) | $65 a month | Up to 50 | 100 a year (annual), 10 a month (monthly) |
| Real Estate and Realtors | Per seat | Per seat | Up to 5 | Per plan |
DocuSign list prices per seat on its eSignature plans page. SignSend Pro covers up to 3 people on one plan.
Two things make the real cost higher than the seat price. A seat added in the middle of a term is billed straight away for the days that remain, so a Standard seat added with six months left on an annual plan costs about $180 now and then the full $360 at renewal. And the account renews with whatever seat count it holds, so a seat bought for one busy quarter keeps billing every year until an administrator removes it.
What do 2, 3, 5 and 10 DocuSign users cost a year?
Ten DocuSign Standard users cost $3,600 a year on an annual commitment, and ten Business Pro users cost $5,400. The bill grows in a straight line with the number of people who press send. People who only sign never need a seat.
| People who send | Standard, annual | Standard, month to month | Business Pro, annual | SignSend |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $360 | $540 | $540 | $288 (Pro) |
| 2 | $720 | $1,080 | $1,080 | $288 (Pro) |
| 3 | $1,080 | $1,620 | $1,620 | $288 (Pro) |
| 5 | $1,800 | $2,700 | $2,700 | $588 (Business) |
| 10 | $3,600 | $5,400 | $5,400 | $588 (Business) |
Annual commitment prices. Overage past each account's envelope allowance is extra on DocuSign.
The DocuSign figures are seat prices only. On annual Standard and Business Pro each seat brings 100 envelopes a year to a shared pool, and DocuSign bills overage past that pool at roughly $3.00 to $5.80 an envelope depending on the plan. SignSend Pro and Business have no document count, so the price in the last column is the whole bill.
How do I add a user to my DocuSign account?
An administrator adds a seat first, then adds the user to that seat. DocuSign splits the job across two screens, and the second step fails if the account has no free seat.
- Check your seat count. Go to Admin, then Plan and Billing. If every seat already has a user, choose Add Envelopes and Seats. On online plans each purchase of 100 envelopes (annual) or 10 envelopes (monthly) includes one seat, and the charge is prorated for the rest of the term.
- Add the person. Go to Admin, then Users, and add their name and work email address.
- Pick a permission profile. The profile decides whether the new user can send, manage templates or act as an administrator. Choose it when you add the user, because that is the default they start with.
- Let them activate. DocuSign emails the new user an activation link. Until they accept it they hold a seat without being able to send.
If you are inside the 60 day window before your renewal date, the Add Envelopes and Seats option is closed to self-service, and the change has to wait for the renewal itself. Accounts bought through a DocuSign sales representative follow the terms of that contract instead.
Can multiple users share one DocuSign account?
Multiple users can work in one DocuSign account, but each user needs a paid seat, so sharing the account does not share the cost. What people usually mean by a shared account is several colleagues using one login. DocuSign licenses seats to individual users, Personal is limited to a single user, and a shared login also means everyone's actions land in the audit trail under one name, which is the opposite of what an audit trail is for.
So a small office has two honest options. Buy a seat for each person who sends on Standard or Business Pro, or move to a tool that prices the team instead of the seat. SignSend Pro lets up to 3 people send on one plan for $288 a year, and Business lets up to 10 people send for $588 a year. Each person keeps their own login and their own name on the documents they send, and the team shares one document list and one set of templates.
What happens to envelopes when you add a DocuSign seat?
Each seat you add brings its full envelope allowance for the current term, and those envelopes join the account's shared pool. On an annual plan that is 100 envelopes, on a monthly plan 10. DocuSign's seats FAQ is clear that unused envelopes do not carry over to the next term.
That has a practical side effect. Some offices add a seat they do not need just to top up envelopes, because a seat is how DocuSign sells extra capacity on online plans. If your problem is volume rather than people, compare what the extra seat costs against the overage you would otherwise pay, and against a plan with no document count at all.
When adding DocuSign users is the right call
Adding seats is worth it when each person needs DocuSign features we do not offer. That means integrations with Salesforce or Microsoft 365, signer identity checks, SSO, detailed permission profiles, or more than 10 people sending. DocuSign also wins for a solo user who sends under 5 documents a month, because Personal at $132 a year is cheaper than any SignSend plan.
It is poor value when the extra people send ordinary PDFs: offer letters, leases, engagement letters, service agreements and waivers. There the seat price buys nothing the team will use, and a team plan does the same job for a fraction of the cost.
How adding a teammate works on SignSend
On SignSend you add a teammate from the Team panel on your dashboard, and it costs nothing extra up to the people your plan covers. Pro covers 3 people, you included, and Business covers 10.
- Open your dashboard and find the Team panel. It shows how many of your seats are in use.
- Type your colleague's work email address and choose Add teammate.
- Your colleague signs in to SignSend with that address, or creates an account with it, and chooses Join the team on their dashboard.
From then on they send under your plan with unlimited documents and see the team's documents, templates and exports. You can remove a teammate at any time and their documents stay in their own account. Business adds bulk send for up to 200 recipients and your company name on the signing page and certificate.
How DocuSign charges for each user
Six rules from DocuSign's seats and billing pages that decide what a new user costs you.
Every user needs a seat
A seat gives one person access to the account. An account can hold more seats than users, but never more users than seats, so each colleague who sends is a separate charge.
Added seats bill right away
On Standard and Business Pro, a seat added mid-term takes effect immediately and is prorated for the days left in the term. Adding a seat does not move your renewal date.
Removing a seat waits for renewal
You can take a seat away, but the change only applies at the end of the current term. You keep paying for it until then.
Closed for the last 60 days
Self-service seat and envelope purchases stop inside the 60 day window before renewal. Teams that grow late in the year wait for the renewal date.
Caps by plan
Personal and Real Estate Starter allow 1 user, Real Estate and Realtors up to 5, Standard and Business Pro up to 50 bought online. Larger accounts go to sales.
Each seat adds envelopes
An annual seat brings 100 envelopes a year to the shared pool and a monthly seat brings 10 a month. Unused envelopes expire with the term.
Work out what one more user really costs
Four quick checks before you buy the seat.
01
Count the people who send
Only senders need seats. Signers never do. List the colleagues who will actually press send next month, not everyone who might touch a contract.
02
Check how much of the term is left
A seat added now is prorated for the remaining days, then billed in full at renewal. Six months left on an annual Standard plan means about $180 today and $360 a year after.
03
Check your renewal window
If renewal is under 60 days away, self-service adds are closed. That is also the moment to remove seats you no longer need.
04
Price the whole team, not the seat
Multiply the seat price by every sender and add expected overage. Then compare it with a plan priced per team, like SignSend Pro for 3 people at $288 a year.

Who should add DocuSign seats and who should not
A solo professional with light volume
Stay on DocuSign Personal at $132 a year if you send under 5 documents a month and nobody else needs to send. It is cheaper than any SignSend plan.
An office where 2 or 3 people send contracts
Three Standard seats cost $1,080 a year. SignSend Pro covers the same three people for $288 with unlimited documents and a shared document list.
A growing team of 4 to 10
Ten Standard seats are $3,600 a year before overage. SignSend Business covers 10 people for $588, adds bulk send to 200 recipients and puts your company name on the signing page.
A company tied to Salesforce or SSO
Add the DocuSign seats. If each sender needs CRM sending, single sign-on or per-user permission profiles, those features are worth the seat price and we do not offer them.
