DocuSign costs $11 to $45 per user per month on an annual commitment and $15 to $65 per user per month if you pay month to month. Personal is $11 or $15, Standard is $30 or $45 per user, and Business Pro is $45 or $65 per user. Real estate plans run $10 to $25 on annual terms, and the developer API plans start at $50 a month. Those are the rates on DocuSign's own plan pages with both billing toggles clicked, in US dollars, before tax.
Most pages ranking for this question still quote $10, $25 and $40 for the three eSignature plans. Those were last year's annual rates. The current ones are higher, and the month to month rates, which DocuSign hides behind a toggle, are higher again.
How much is DocuSign per month?
Here is every self-serve eSignature plan on both billing cycles, with the envelopes each one includes. An envelope is one send, however many documents or signers it holds.
| DocuSign plan | Per month, annual commitment | Per month, month to month | Envelopes included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal (1 user) | $11 | $15 | 5 a month |
| Standard | $30 per user | $45 per user | 100 per user per year (annual), 10 per user per month (monthly) |
| Business Pro | $45 per user | $65 per user | 100 per user per year on the annual plan |
| Enhanced (50+ users) | Quoted by sales | Quoted by sales | Custom |
The plan most small businesses end up on is Standard, because it is the first one that allows more than one sender. We cover it line by line, including the envelope cap and overage, on our DocuSign Standard plan page. The single user option is on the DocuSign Personal plan page.
Why "$30 a month" is really a $360 contract
DocuSign's plans page opens on a view labelled "Annual | Billed monthly". The $30 you see for Standard is charged monthly, but you are signing up for twelve months of it, and the small print under the button says so: "This is an annual commitment of $360." Personal is a $132 commitment and Business Pro is $540 per user.
That matters for two reasons. First, cancelling in month three does not stop the remaining nine payments; DocuSign's refund policy only covers requests made within 30 days of first signing up for an annual plan. Second, the true month to month price is a separate choice you have to switch to, and it is 36 to 50 percent higher per month depending on the plan.
How much does DocuSign cost per month for a team?
Every person who sends needs a seat. People who only sign never pay anything. So the monthly bill is the seat price times the number of senders.
| Senders | Standard, annual commitment | Standard, month to month | Business Pro, annual commitment | Business Pro, month to month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $30 | $45 | $45 | $65 |
| 2 | $60 | $90 | $90 | $130 |
| 3 | $90 | $135 | $135 | $195 |
| 5 | $150 | $225 | $225 | $325 |
Business Pro adds bulk send, web forms and payment collection, but not a single extra envelope: both plans stop at 100 per user per year on annual billing. The Business Pro page lists exactly what the extra $15 a seat buys.
Is DocuSign cheaper paid monthly or annually?
Annually, if you will keep DocuSign for more than about eight months. Divide each plan's annual commitment by its month to month price and you get the number of months at which the two cost the same.
| Plan | Annual commitment | Month to month rate | Annual pays off after | Saving on a full year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Personal | $132 | $15 | 8.8 months | 26.7% |
| Standard | $360 | $45 | 8.0 months | 33.3% |
| Business Pro | $540 | $65 | 8.3 months | 30.8% |
| Real Estate | $300 | $45 | 6.7 months | 44.4% |
| Developer Starter (API) | $600 | $75 | 8.0 months | 33.3% |
There is a catch on Standard that the savings banner leaves out. The month to month plan includes 10 envelopes per user per month, which is 120 a year. The annual plan includes 100 per user per year. Paying for the year saves $180 a seat and gives you 20 fewer envelopes to send.
The eSignature page now advertises "up to 33%" for annual billing, and Standard is the plan that reaches it. The "up to 44%" figure you may have seen belongs to the real estate page, where the Real Estate plan drops from $45 to $25 a month.
What does DocuSign for real estate cost per month?
| Real estate plan | Annual commitment | Month to month | Envelopes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Real Estate Starter (1 user) | $10 ($120 a year) | $15 | 5 a month |
| Real Estate (1 to 5 users) | $25 per user ($300 a year) | $45 per user | 100 per user per year (annual), 10 per user per month (monthly) |
| REALTORS, NAR members only | $20 per user ($240 a year) | $35 per user | Unlimited, subject to reasonable use |
For a NAR member the REALTORS plan is both the cheapest full plan and the only uncapped one. The rest of the detail, including Rooms for Real Estate, is on our DocuSign for real estate agents page.
What does the DocuSign API cost per month?
The developer plans are priced separately from eSignature seats. On an annual commitment Starter is $50 a month with 40 envelopes a month, Intermediate is $300 with 100, and Advanced is $480 with the same 100. Month to month they are $75, $450 and $720, exactly one and a half times the annual rate. Our DocuSign API pricing page explains why Advanced costs $180 a month more for the same volume.
Above the eSignature tiers sit DocuSign's IAM plans, which bundle an AI agreement repository: IAM Starter is $45 per user per month on an annual commitment, and IAM Standard is $50 per user with a three seat minimum, so at least $150 a month. That is the cheapest way to get unlimited DocuSign envelopes. If the repository and renewal tracking are what you are really shopping for, dedicated contract management software is worth pricing next to it, because you may not need a signing upgrade at all.
What else adds to the monthly DocuSign bill?
Three things push the real monthly cost above the sticker price:
- Overage. Standard bills extra envelopes at $3.00 to $3.60 each on annual plans and $4.50 to $5.40 on month to month plans. Business Pro runs $4.80 to $7.80. Personal cannot buy extra envelopes at all; it simply stops at 5.
- SMS delivery, from $0.36 per delivery, after the 5 free ones included once with Standard.
- ID verification, from $2.40 per attempt, again after a one-time bonus of 5.
A single Standard seat that sends 15 envelopes a month on the annual plan uses up its 100 by mid-July and sends 80 more at $3.60, so the year costs $648: an average of $54 a month, not $30. The full overage table is in DocuSign cost per envelope.
What does a flat monthly e-signature plan cost instead?
SignSend Pro is $49 a month, or $490 a year billed yearly, which works out to about $40.83 a month. That price is for the account, not per seat, and it includes unlimited documents and unlimited signers, so there is no overage line and no envelope count. Business is $99 a month, or $990 a year, and adds bulk send to up to 200 recipients.
Being straight about where that lands: $49 is more than DocuSign Personal ($11 to $15) and more than one Standard seat ($30 to $45). It is less than one Business Pro seat paid month to month ($65), less than two Standard seats on either cycle ($60 to $90), and less than any single sender who runs past about 137 envelopes a year on Standard. SignSend also does less: one PDF up to 20MB per send, one login per account, no templates, no integrations and no API. If you need those, DocuSign's price is paying for them.
If the monthly figure you worked out above is over $49 and all you need is to get PDFs signed with an audit trail, send one document with SignSend free and see the whole flow before you commit to anything. For the complete plan by plan breakdown, start with our DocuSign pricing guide.
