How to Cancel Jotform Subscription and Keep Sending Documents for Signature
October 5, 2026
Need to get a document signed?
Upload a PDF, add your signers, and send it in minutes with SignSend.
To cancel a Jotform subscription, sign in, open Settings from your avatar in the top right, go to the Billing tab, click Change Plan and choose the free Starter plan, then follow the prompts to confirm. Your paid plan keeps working until the end of the billing period you already paid for, and then the account drops to Starter with no further charges. If you cancel within 30 days of a payment made directly to Jotform, you can ask for that payment back.
That is the whole mechanism. The part worth slowing down for is what Starter takes away, because a downgrade can cost you forms and submissions, and if you were paying mostly to get documents signed, there is a cheaper way to keep doing that.
How do I cancel my Jotform subscription?
Jotform's support team gives the same four steps in its answers forum. There is no separate cancel button. Cancelling means moving to the free plan.
- Log in to Jotform and hover over your avatar in the top right corner, then click Settings.
- Open the Billing tab.
- Click Change Plan.
- Choose the Starter (free) plan and follow the instructions on screen to finish.
Jotform's terms describe the same result as turning off auto-renew: your payment method is not charged at the next billing date, or if you pay by invoice, the next invoice is not issued. Your subscription renews at the end of every billing cycle until you do one of those two things, so a plan you forgot about will keep billing.
Take a screenshot of the confirmation screen and keep the billing email. If a charge appears later, that record is what support will ask for.
How do I cancel Jotform on iPhone?
If you subscribed inside the Jotform app on an iPhone or iPad, Apple bills you, not Jotform, and the Billing tab on the website cannot stop it. Open the Settings app, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, choose Jotform and tap Cancel Subscription. Google Play works the same way from the Play Store app under Payments and subscriptions. Refunds on those purchases follow Apple's or Google's rules, not Jotform's 30-day policy.
Does Jotform give refunds?
Yes, within 30 days. Jotform's terms say that if you cancel your account within 30 days of a payment made directly to Jotform, you may request and receive a refund through the Jotform Support Team. Support points people to the refund request form at jotform.com/refund-request, where you enter the account, the charge date and the amount.
Two limits apply. Refunds for any reason other than cancellation within those 30 days are at Jotform's sole discretion, and add-on charges such as AI agent phone numbers are not refundable. The 30-day window counts from each payment, so an annual plan that auto-renewed last week is usually still inside it. Annual renewals are the charge people most often catch late, because the renewal comes twelve months after anyone last looked at the plan.
Will I lose my forms if I cancel Jotform?
You can. Jotform's terms warn that downgrading takes effect at your next billing date and may result in losing forms and submissions. The reason is the Starter limits, which are much tighter than any paid plan.
| Plan | Price, billed yearly | Price, billed monthly | Active forms | Submissions a month | Signed documents a month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $0 | $0 | 5 | 100 | 10 |
| Bronze | $34 a month ($408 a year) | $39 a month | 25 | 1,000 | 100 |
| Silver | $39 a month ($468 a year) | $49 a month | 50 | 2,500 | 250 |
| Gold | $99 a month ($1,188 a year) | $129 a month | 100 | 10,000 | 1,000 |
Prices and limits from Jotform's pricing page. Every tier from Starter to Gold is a single-user plan, and multi-user access is sold as Enterprise.
So if you run 20 active forms on Bronze, 15 of them will not survive the move to Starter in working order. Before you cancel, export what you need: download submissions as CSV or Excel from the Tables view, and download every completed signed document from Jotform Sign. Do it while the paid plan is still active, not after the downgrade date.
Should you cancel Jotform or downgrade to a cheaper plan?
Most people searching for a way out of Jotform fall into one of three groups, and only one of them should leave entirely.
- You use Jotform for forms, payments and surveys. Signing is a side feature. Dropping from Gold to Silver or Bronze is the realistic saving, and nothing on this page replaces a form builder.
- You collect intake answers and then send an agreement. Jotform is doing two jobs. You may be better off splitting them, with a client intake tool that runs the discovery questions for you and a dedicated signing account for the agreement that follows.
- You pay Jotform mostly to get PDFs signed. This is the group that overpays. Bronze is $408 a year for one user and 100 signed documents a month. If the documents are contracts, offer letters, leases or engagement letters prepared elsewhere, a signing account costs less and does not count documents.
If you paid Jotform mainly for signatures
SignSend Pro is $288 a year, or $49 a month, for up to 3 people, with unlimited documents and unlimited signers. That is $120 a year less than one Jotform Bronze user on annual billing, and it covers three senders where Bronze covers one. You upload a PDF, add the signers, set the signing order and a deadline if you want one, and send. Signers who have not signed get automatic reminders, and every signed PDF carries an audit trail and certificate of completion. Documents you send every week can be saved as templates.
| What you need | Jotform (annual) | SignSend |
|---|---|---|
| 1 person, up to 100 signed documents a month | Bronze, $408 a year | Pro, $288 a year |
| 1 person, 101 to 250 a month | Silver, $468 a year | Pro, $288 a year |
| 3 people sending | Enterprise, quoted by sales | Pro, $288 a year |
| Up to 10 people, bulk send, your company name on the signing page | Enterprise, quoted by sales | Business, $588 a year |
| Forms, payments, surveys, conditional logic | Included | Not offered |
Where Jotform wins: if one person sends ten or fewer documents a month and also needs a few forms, Starter costs nothing and SignSend has no free plan. Stay on Starter in that case. For a fuller side by side, see our Jotform Sign alternative page, and the plan by plan math in Jotform Sign pricing.
What to do before you cancel
- Find the renewal date. It is on the Billing tab. If the last charge is under 30 days old, cancel and request the refund in the same sitting.
- Export submissions. Download the data from every form you will lose in the downgrade.
- Download signed documents. Save each completed Jotform Sign document with its audit trail. Courts and auditors ask for the signed copy, not the form.
- Check who else logs in. Jotform's paid tiers are single-user, so if several people share one login, change the password after you move so nobody is left on an old session.
- Set up the replacement before the downgrade date. Send one document on the new tool while Jotform still works, so there is no week where nothing can be signed.
How to move your signing to SignSend
Export the documents you send most often from Jotform Sign as PDFs. On SignSend, upload each one, add the signers and send. Save the ones you reuse as templates so the next send takes a minute. If three people in the office send contracts, add them to your Pro plan so each has their own login and everyone sees the shared document list. You can send one document as a demo before paying, signed end to end, to see how it lands on the signer's side.
If you are also comparing DocuSign at this point, our DocuSign vs Jotform Sign pricing breakdown has the per-seat numbers, and the e-signature pricing comparison puts every major tool side by side for 1, 3 and 10 senders.
Frequently asked questions
Can I cancel Jotform at any time?
Yes. You can switch to the Starter plan from the Billing tab whenever you like. The paid plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and Jotform stops charging after that. Cancelling within 30 days of a payment made directly to Jotform also makes that payment refundable on request.
Does Jotform charge a cancellation fee?
No. Jotform's terms do not list a cancellation or early termination fee. You keep what you paid for until the period ends, and the account moves to Starter. The only money question is the 30-day refund window, which you have to request through support.
How do I delete my Jotform account completely?
Downgrading to Starter keeps the account. If you want it gone, cancel the paid plan first, export everything, and then delete the account from Settings or ask Jotform support to remove it. Deleting first can leave you without your submissions and signed documents.
Why was I charged after I thought I cancelled?
Usually the subscription was bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play, or the downgrade was never confirmed on the last screen. Check your app store subscriptions, then check the Billing tab. If the charge is under 30 days old, request a refund through Jotform's refund form.
